UPDATE ON ESKOM WAGE NEGOTIATIONS AT THE CCMA
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is extremely disappointed that parties are not making any progress in the Eskom wage negotiations here at the CCMA in Johannesburg. Since we started with negotiations this morning Eskom has been insisting on disciplining workers who participated in the industrial action. Eskom wants NUM to sign the agreement and thereafter dismiss our members. The NUM will only sign the wage agreement if Eskom removes the precondition of disciplinary action.

We can confirm that for the past two days, no progress was made and the employers are still far fr...

NUM demands that Eskom pay workers their bonuses
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) calls on Eskom to pay bonuses to its employees who had performed exceptionally well. We remain adamant that the bonus payment is a deal breaker. The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is deeply worried and concerned that on Friday Eskom verbally informed the trade unions without any presentation that Eskom made a loss of R2.6 billion. The loss is due to the R30 billions of fruitless and wasteful expenditure as a result of corruption.
