NUM is deeply disappointed with the Department of Mineral Resources

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is deeply disappointed with the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) that they failed to issue a non-compliance order to the ASA Dilokong Mine after there were incidents reported underground where two of the employees were injured underground on the 26 October 2015 of slip and fall accidents.

Our expectation as NUM was that DMR was supposed to issue a non-compliance order.

Health and Safety representatives are also not empowered by the company to deal with safety issues underground. It is totally unacceptable that when Health and Safety representatives raise safety issues underground the company charges them.
