The NUM has noted the selling of Union Mine by Anglo American Platinum to Siyanda Resources

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has noted the fact that Anglo American Platinum has decided to sell its 85% interest in Union Mine and its majority stake in Masa Chrome to resources investment company Siyanda Resources for R6.4 billion.

As the NUM, we hope Siyanda Resources will not embark on retrenchment process once they take over the mine. The job security of our members and other mineworkers is of utmost importance and we do not want to see a situation where workers are retrenched.

We are looking forward to engaging with Siyanda Resources about their plans and the future of the mine.
