NUM ESKOM PWV REGION MEMBERS VOWED NOT TO ACCEPT A 0% WAGE INCREASE BY ESKOM

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) members under the Eskom PWV Region held their Special Regional Shop Steward Council last week on Friday (01 June 2018) to get the mandate from members on the 0% wage increase offered by Eskom during the first round of wage negotiations. NUM members are angered by the attitude and insult from Eskom.

The NUM Eskom PWV Region Special Regional Shop Steward Council resolved as follows:

The council resolved that before Eskom can plead poverty, it needs to ensure that those who contributed to the financial distress of the company should be brought to account and repay each cent that they mismanaged and or stole from Eskom.

. As employees and members of the bargaining unit, ours is to generate revenue for Eskom and Eskom has employed managers to strategize and save revenue.

. Eskom has further gone into a wasteful expenditure of rendering services from the likes of McKinsey and Trillion.

. We instruct Eskom to present a financial audited statement during the second round of wage negotiations that are starting this coming Wednesday until Friday. (6-8 June 2018)

. Eskom should know that we are not stupid, how can they offer 0% wage increase and a negative financial statement and then employ a CEO on a permanent basis? This is clear that Eskom is taking a direction of not negotiating with organised labour.
