NUM North East Youth Structure celebrated the youth month at Mangabane sports ground in Limpopo
In honour of the Youth month, the NUM North East Youth Structure held a sports tournament on the 2nd of June 2018 at Steelpoort (Mangabane village sports ground) in Limpopo.
The tournament was attended by NUM members from different surrounding mines in Burgersfort and the villagers came in large numbers to give their support.
The event was also attended by the national leaders of the NUM Youth Structure (NUM-YS) led comrade Nhlanhla Luvuno (Chairperson), comrade Truasure Thekupi (Deputy Chairperson), comrade Zakhele Kontsane (Sports & recreation Officer) and comrade Taolo Thupaemang (Political &Ideological Officer). Comrade Phillip Mankge who is the NUM North East Regional Secretary was also there and he addressed the NUM members after the event thanking them for a successful tournament.
NUM North East Youth Structure Secretary comrade Harare Malapane said the purpose of the sports tournament was to make sure that youths are kept out of the streets through sports and the community must see that NUM was still alive and growing.
Comrade Shai Bush, an NUM member who attended the sports tournament said: "At gatherings like this we can be able to interact with each other as the youths and engage in matters that affect us in the workplace and also discuss strategies on how to grow the NUM."
An excited NUM member Comrade Else Mogoee said she was happy to be selected as one of the people who will be representing the NUM North East Region in Welkom where the NUM National Youth Structure will hold a June 16 National Rally at Zokabaloyi Stadium at Thabong in the Free State Province. Alliance Partners like the ANC Youth League, Young Communist League, Cosas, SASCO and Cosatu Youth will give messages of support.
Yolanda Mbolompo is an NUM member from the NUM Carletonville Region and she is currently studying for Public Relations at UNISA.
Its birth was facilitated by comrades Cyril Ramaphosa who rose to be its first General Secretary, James Motlatsi who turned to be its first President, and Elijah Barayi who became its Vice President and later the President of Cosatu in 1985 when the federation was formed. porn
