NUM, SACP AND COSATU TO MARCH TO PARLIAMENT THIS COMING SATURDAY
The National Union of Mineworkers in the Western Cape Region, joined by the South African Communist Party (SACP) and COSATU in the Western Cape will march to Parliament this coming Saturday.
The NUM organises in the mining, construction, and energy. The march is to defend citizens from effects of Power Purchase Agreements and Independent Power Producers imposed on Eskom by Department of Energy. Furthermore, the joint March is intended at defending Eskom workers against the looming job cuts; reject electricity tariff increases for funding IPPs, and also to reject privatisation of Eskom. The march is also directed to Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) against municipalities who are failing to pay Eskom debt thus contributing to the looming job cuts.
