The NUM Youth Structure wishes to express its sadness and shock at the untimely death of Deputy Minister, Ms Bavelile Hlongwa

The National Union of Mineworkers Youth Structure (NUMYS) mourns the sudden and untimely death of comrade Bavelile Hlongwa who died in a car crash on Friday. Hlongwa was holding a portfolio of Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy.

The NUMYS learned with sadness the passing of the Deputy minister comrade Bavelile Hlongwa who has been leading and championing matters that are affecting young people of this country, in her we saw Mama Winnie Madikizela Mandela of our generation a person who dedicated her life to the struggle of our people.

"Within the short time in the mining sector, she has played a crucial role in developing young people within the industry and we want to believe that the industry has lost heavily on her great youthful ideas that were to reshape the sector," said Bonginkosi Mrasi, NUM Youth Structure National Secretary.

As the NUMYS we call upon the Minister of Transport Honourable Fikile Mabalula to fast track the cause of this tragedy and he must not leave any stone unturned, we are tired of our roads taking away lives of our leaders in such fashion.

We send our deepest condolences to the family, department, and friends of Ms Bavelile Hlongwa during this difficult time.
