Poor planning by Eskom management is at the centre of the continued load shedding in the country
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), through its branches across the country, has investigated the real causes of load shedding as it is busy ravaging the country’s economy and frustrating the poor working class.Poor planning by management is at the centre of this current electricity cut-offs. The main contributor is the reduction of maintenance budget aimed at cutting costs and the low morale as well as demotivated workers, especially highly skilled operators.

One NUM member killed and four seriously injured after being attacked by alleged Amcu members at Beatrix Mine in Welkom last night.
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) strongly condemn the attack last night of five our members at Sibanye-Stillwater Beatrix mine in Welkom, Free State. One NUM member was fatally shot while four others were seriously injured. Our members were randomly attacked in a bus transporting them to work allegedly by members affiliated to the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu).

The National Union of Mineworkers was founded in 1982.

Its birth was facilitated by comrades Cyril Ramaphosa who rose to be its first General Secretary, James Motlatsi who turned to be its first President, and Elijah Barayi who became its Vice President and later the President of Cosatu in 1985 when the federation was formed. porn
