Press Statement, 15 November 2022

NUM youth structure 3rd conference to take place on the 25th-27th November 2022

The National Union of Mineworkers Youth Structure (NUMYS) is set to convene its 3rd National Conference from 25th - 27th November 2022 organised under the theme “Recruit, Mobilise & Repositioning Young People for the Purpose of Advancing the Youth Struggle''. The conference is set to take place at Nutting House Conference Centre in Mbombela, Mpumalanga.

Among the invited speakers to the youth conference include former Deputy President of the ANCYL and the current Mpumalanga Provincial Executive Committee member and Member of Parliament Honourable Comrade Desmond Moela, leaders from the Cosatu Young Workers, the Young Communist League of South Africa, the Congress of South African Students, the National Youth Development Agency, and the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Honourable Comrade Njabulo Nzuza. There will also be messages of support from leaders of other Progressive Youth Formations and local and international fraternal organisations.

Other than the election of new national youth structure leadership, the conference is expected to deal with the policy issues pertaining to the challenges faced by young people at work places both in terms of political and economic landscapes.

It is the duty of young workers to organise the unorganized workers and to push forward and revolutionize the young workers struggle. Let the young workers stand together in fighting for the economy that makes employment creation fashionable and a national priority.

The NUM National Youth Structure is a nursery from which the NUM hopes to draw its future leadership. Expected at the conference are more than 300 delegates, both voting and non-voting.

All members of the media are invited to attend and fairly report about the conference.

About Us
The National Union of Mineworkers was founded in 1982.

Its birth was facilitated by comrades Cyril Ramaphosa who rose to be its first General Secretary, James Motlatsi who turned to be its first President, and Elijah Barayi who became its Vice President and later the President of Cosatu in 1985 when the federation was formed. porn
