About Us
The National Union of Mineworkers was founded in 1982.

Its birth was facilitated by comrades Cyril Ramaphosa who rose to be its first General Secretary, James Motlatsi who turned to be its first President, and Elijah Barayi who became its Vice President and later the President of Cosatu in 1985 when the federation was formed. porn

NUM supports the International Israel Apartheid Week

posted on

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) like all other  progressive forces supports the struggle of the Palestinian people for freedom and self-determination in their own land. We, therefore, support and endorse the International Israel Apartheid Week ( IAW).

We believe that what Israel is doing to the people of Palestine is a crime against humanity.

The world needs to stand up to Apartheid Israel as it stood up against Apartheid South Africa. The time for easy rhetoric and mere condemnation must come to an end. Genuine global solidarity is required.

The world must internalize the pain and suffering being inflicted on a nation under siege by the Israel government. The Palestinians are confronted with cruelty on a daily basis.

The NUM supports the diplomatic and economic isolation of the Israeli regime. This call is in line with an international movement which seeks to impose sanctions on the state of Israel for its refusal to recognize the right of the Palestine people to an independent and sovereign nation of their own.

Finally, we stand firmly in support of Palestinian statehood and sovereignty
