NUM extremely concerned about systematic violence

posted on
 Press Statement: 2 April 2014

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) condemns the sustained and systematic
attacks on its members by barbarians masquerading as strikers in the Rustenburg area and the platinum belt.

We call on the signatories of the Framework Agreement to equally condemn the savage onslaught unleashed by proponents of vigilante unionism who prey on soft targets while the class opponent stands resolute, unflinching and defiant.

These attacks on our members have the potential to render the spirit and letter of the Framework Agreement valueless .Furthermore; we urge the law enforcement agencies to crack down on the sponsors and the perpetrators of butchery.

About Us
The National Union of Mineworkers was founded in 1982.

Its birth was facilitated by comrades Cyril Ramaphosa who rose to be its first General Secretary, James Motlatsi who turned to be its first President, and Elijah Barayi who became its Vice President and later the President of Cosatu in 1985 when the federation was formed. porn
