Requirements
- An MA\Msc in social sciences specializing in (i) local economic development and poverty or, (ii) socio-economic policy analysis or, (iii) technology management and industrial development or any related field
- A good understanding of local economic development dynamics and\or, socio-economic and political imperatives and\or, industry and technology challenges in Southern African countries especially South Africa
- A good publication record of at least three journal articles and\or three chapters in books
- Ability to write policy papers and reports, and source research funding
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and in at least 2 South African languages
- 3 - 4 years of related work experience will be an added advantage.
Duties
- To undertake research in the areas of (i) local economic development and poverty alleviation and\or, (ii) national and regional socio-economic and political policies and\or, (iii) industry performance dynamics, technology and employment, relevant to the Mineworkers Investment Trust (MIT) beneficiaries and their communities
- Undertake field research and produce manuscripts for publication within and outside the MIT environment
- Disseminate knowledge gained from the research to MIT internal forums and outside the MIT, through participation in conferences and seminars
- Network with stakeholders and experts in the field of (i) local economic development and poverty alleviation\(ii) national and regional socio-economic and political policies\ (iii) industry performance dynamics, technology and employment
- Drive fundraising in order to augment resources available to support SATRI research.
BASIC SALARY: R311 052.00-R532 122 .00 pa (plus benefits)
