Press Statement, 31 December 2013
Two Suspects in the killing of the late NUM Shopsteward comrade Nobongile Norah Madolo to appear in court
Two suspects who are allegedly involved in the killing of the late NUM Shopsteward comrade Nobongile Norah Madolo will appear in court on Thursday morning at 8:30 (02 January 2014) at Tlhabane Magistrate Court in Rustenburg , North West Province.
The two suspects are appearing for bail application, which was postponed on the 30th of December (yesterday) due to ill health of the investigating officer.
Comrade Madolo was brutally and heartlessly killed in August this year, a month that is dedicated to women. NUM will continue to pay homage to the role of women in our society and also highlight the struggles they still face in their battle for total emancipation.
Our members and other workers must know that they are pawns in a game of greedy capitalists and their henchmen when they kill each other. We call on workers in Marikana in Rustenburg to stop killing one another but build unity in order to fight for improved wages and better working conditions. They must not allow mine bosses to divide and weaken them. Workers will gain nothing from fighting and killing one another.
We are inviting our members and alliance partners around Rustenburg to come to court for support in their red regalia!
The media is welcome to attend and report.
