NUM Eskom members in the Free Region to march against IPPs tomorrow


The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) Eskom members in the Free State Region will tomorrow march in Bloemfontein to demand amongst others that Eskom stops doing business with Independent Power Producers.

The details of tomorrow‘s march are as follows:

Place: Workers would gather at Loch Logan in Bloemfontein.

Time:  NUM members will gather at 12:00 and memorandum will be handed at around 12:45 to Eskom management at Bloemfontein Eskom Center. The NUM members will be joined by the Cosatu Free State leadership

The NUM demands are as follows

1. NUM members in Free State demand that the two Eskom Centre receptionists be permanently  employed
2. All learners are given a guarantee of employment at the end of their term sector
3. We demand that Eskom must stop using labour brokers and temporary employees
4. We demand that Eskom must not do business with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) unless they are owned and regulated by the government
5. An urgent stop to Eskom call center centralization
6. Management should stop unilateral changes to all Eskom conditions of service matters without consulting with labour e.g. (visit to specialist doctors subsidy, scholars accommodation subsidy and scheme cars subsidy)
7. We demand that Eskom comply with the 2016 wage agreement by addressing the wage differentials with immediate effect before we start the 2018 wage negotiations
8. Supervisors must stop victimizing and harassing employees as deliberated on the meeting with Louise Maleka on the 09 February 2018 here in Bloemfontein Eskom Centre
9. Management must stop and refrain implementing certain issues and later bring them to Regional Forum (RF) for discussion undermining forums and unions.
10. All Unions membership administration must be treated and handled equally.
