Press Statement, 11 July 2018
NUM update on current Eskom wage negotiations
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has noted the latest offer from Eskom. The parties have agreed that they are not going to do media interviews in order to give unions an opportunity to consult with their members about the latest offer from Eskom presented late last night.
The wage negotiations are at a sensitive stage and the NUM, NUMSA, and Solidarity have requested a meeting with the Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan, Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene and the Eskom Board. The proposed meeting is going to take place as soon as possible. The NUM believes that the proposed meeting will help the parties to resolve their differences amicably and sign an agreement.
