POST-NUM YOUTH STRUCTURE COMMITTEE MEETING PRESS STATEMENT

The NUM-YS held it's monthly national office bearers meeting that took place on the 20th of July 2018 at EBMTC in Midrand

The meeting dealt with several issues affecting youth in all of sectors we organise which are mining, energy and construction
The youth structure will lobby all internal structures in NUM to launch a campaign called "One life too many, mineworkers unite"this will be targeting all mines in our country as we have observed a high number of fatalities in the sector.

The NUM-YS calls for unity in the upcoming COSATU national congress that will take place in September and as the structure we strongly believe that COSATU is ready for women leadership which we believe that affiliates will support us when we submit the name of Zingiswa Losi as the next president of COSATU

The structure has developed a recruitment strategy that it will present to the NUM extended NEC meeting next week which the aim is to regain the lost ground in areas like Rustenburg,Carletonville and Matlosana and in construction

The NUM-YS welcomes the election of the newly elected leadership of NUM as elected in their last congress in june and the structure will support the current leadership all the way

About Us
The National Union of Mineworkers was founded in 1982.

Its birth was facilitated by comrades Cyril Ramaphosa who rose to be its first General Secretary, James Motlatsi who turned to be its first President, and Elijah Barayi who became its Vice President and later the President of Cosatu in 1985 when the federation was formed. porn
