MO AFRIKA PROJECTS AND INVESTMENTS AND RUSTENBURG LOCAL MUNICIPALITY TO HOLD "A GENTLEMEN SUMMIT AT THE RUSTENBURG CIVIC CENTRE.
The Mo Afrika Projects and Investments in partnership with the Rustenburg Local Municipality will be hosting "A GENTLEMEN SUMMIT (The Dialogue) on the 12 of March 2020 at the Rustenburg Civic Centre in the North West Province.
A gentleman is a character, a leader that drives towards change in society. A chivalrous, courteous, or honourable man, a gentleman leads by character and always on the lookout for change. With recent problems in communities affected by challenges that are related to gender-based violence, victimisation, and movements such as #MenAreTrash, a gentleman’s role is key in ensuring that mindsets are shifted. Not all gentlemen are perpetrators and this particular gentleman is different and in a mission to discuss, engage and converse. A room filled with gentlemen can be found to be inspiring, with topics that take place to change and create a holistic change in mindsets of our communities.
Mbuyiselo Botha from Sonke Gender Justice will deliver a keynote address. Rustenburg Mayor Mpho Khunou will also address the event.
Mbuyiselo Botha was active in the anti-apartheid struggle as a leader in South African Civics Movement, especially in his home community of Sharpeville. Prior to joining Sonke Gender Sonke, he worked as the Dissemination Officer for the International Red Cross based in South Africa in the 1980s and was a founder member and Secretary-General of the South African Men’s Forum where he coordinated advocacy, training and community-based structure building to promote gender equality.
