NUM Eskom members have called Phakamani Hadebe and Jabu Mabuza to vacate their positions at Eskom
The National Union of Mine Workers (NUM) has called for Phakamani Hadebe and Jabu Mabuza to vacate their positions at Eskom. The NUM held its Eskom National Shop Stewards Council at Elijah Barayi Memorial Training College ( EBMTC) today in Midrand. NUM ESKOM PWV REGION MEMBERS VOWED NOT TO ACCEPT A 0% WAGE INCREASE BY ESKOM
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) members under the Eskom PWV Region held their Special Regional Shop Steward Council last week on Friday (01 June 2018) to get the mandate from members on the 0% wage increase offered by Eskom during the first round of wage negotiations. One miner died at Sibanye Stillwater's Driefontein Hlanganani Shaft
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is deeply concerned that the mining industry has yet claimed another life of a mineworker, this time again at Sibanye Stillwater's Driefontein Hlanganani shaft outside Carletonville. The mineworker died early hours of this morning at Driefontein Hlanganani shaft due to fall of ground. This is after three mineworkers were trapped while doing their night shift work.

NUM is ready for the upcoming 16th National Congress
The National Union of Mineworkers is set to hold its 16th National Congress from 20-22 June 2018 at Birchwood Conference Centre in Boksburg. This is a Congress that comes three years after the successful 15th National Congress which was held at the same venue. The congress will be organised under the theme “Re-build and re-engineer NUM towards reclaiming its historical posture”.

NUM Highveld Regional leadership to address workers on the decision taken by the Business Rescue Practitioners to suspend JIC Mining Services
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) Highveld regional leadership will tomorrow (Thursday) address a mass meeting at Optimum Coal Mine in Mpumalanga. The mass meeting is organised after the decision by Business Rescue Practitioners to serve JIC Mining Services with a letter to suspend its services until further notice. This decision by the Business Rescue Practitioners will affect 480 employees employed by JIC Mining Services.

Shocking revelations emerged from the 1st round of wage negotiations with Eskom
The National Union of Mineworkers is deeply concerned that the new Eskom Board has unilaterally suspended the recognition agreement with the unions as they prepare for privatization. Their strategy of saving the precarious balance sheet of Eskom is to sell off government tangible assets worth R 638bn which constitute 84% of Eskom’s asset base.

About Us
The National Union of Mineworkers was founded in 1982.

Its birth was facilitated by comrades Cyril Ramaphosa who rose to be its first General Secretary, James Motlatsi who turned to be its first President, and Elijah Barayi who became its Vice President and later the President of Cosatu in 1985 when the federation was formed. porn
