It is quite mischievous for the Association of Mineworkers and the Construction Union to start associating the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) with the current killings taking place in the platinum belt. The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) members at PPC Cement Slurry are on strike over wages in Mafikeng. The NUM gave the company a notice to strike on Sunday last week and workers commenced with the industrial action on Monday. The company is offering workers an insulting offer of 6% across the board.

153 NUM members who staged a sit-in underground at Zululand Anthracite Colliery resurfaced from underground last night at 11 pm.
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) can confirm that 153 NUM members and other workers who staged a sit-in underground on 10 October 2017 have resurfaced from underground at Zululand Anthracite Colliery. They resurfaced from underground last night at around 11 pm. The NUM can also confirm that they are still healthy and strong. They spent five days underground without eating and drinking.

Its birth was facilitated by comrades Cyril Ramaphosa who rose to be its first General Secretary, James Motlatsi who turned to be its first President, and Elijah Barayi who became its Vice President and later the President of Cosatu in 1985 when the federation was formed. porn
