NUM welcomes the appointment of Eskom Group Chief Executive Officer
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) welcomes the appointment of Mr Matshela Koko as an acting Group Chief Executive Officer of Eskom. Koko has gained a lot of experience within the company since he joined Eskom as an engineer. With his experience, he will be able to steer Eskom into the right direction.

Elijah Barayi Memorial Training Centre (EBMTC) to hold its annual graduation ceremony
The ELIJAH BARAYI MEMORIAL TRAINING CENTRE (EBMTC) will be hosting its 4th Annual Graduation Ceremony where  64  National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) members within the Construction Sector will be graduating. The Shop stewards will be graduating with South African Qualifications (SAQA) accredited unit standards. The Graduations will take place on the 2nd of December 2016 at the state of art EBMTC Midrand Campus.

THE NUM HAS NOTED THE ANNOUNCEMENT MADE BY THE DEPUTY PRESIDENT CYRIL RAMAPHOSA ON THE NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE.
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has noted the announcement made by the Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa that the proposed national minimum wage in South Africa should be R3‚500 per month and that the minimum wage should be set at R20 per hour.

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has noted with serious concern the untimely resignation of the Eskom Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brian Molefe yesterday. There is no doubt that Eskom was beginning to stabilise its power supply  under his leadership.

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is extremely shocked and disturbed that  Floxy Four a small mining company has been mining at night using illegal  immigrants. Floxy Four is based in Amalia township in the North West Province. The company got its mining licence in 2012.

NUM concludes a 3-year minimum wage agreement with Sasol Mining
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) , Ceppwawu, Sacwu and Solidarity have concluded a 3-year minimum wage agreement with Sasol  Mining. Unfortunately, AMCU did not sign the wage agreement and they went on strike.

About Us
The National Union of Mineworkers was founded in 1982.

Its birth was facilitated by comrades Cyril Ramaphosa who rose to be its first General Secretary, James Motlatsi who turned to be its first President, and Elijah Barayi who became its Vice President and later the President of Cosatu in 1985 when the federation was formed. porn
