69 MINEWORKERS WHO STAGED A SIT-IN UNDERGROUND RESURFACED TONIGHT
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) can confirm that all 69 mineworkers who staged a sit-in underground since last week Saturday morning have resurfaced from underground at N0 7 Shaft Mine in Orkney, North West Province. They all resurfaced at 6:30 pm tonight singing and chanting slogans. This is after the NUM has reached an agreement with the Chinese African Precious Metal (CAPM) today.

NUM and JB Marks Education Trust Fund leads Gauteng into the 4th Industrial Revolution
The JB Marks Education Trust Fund, a bursary scheme that was established by the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) will host the 8th edition of the Annual JB Marks Career Exhibition from the 15th to the 18th of May 2019. This time, the host province is Gauteng, and the adequately named expo this year is “My Future 4.0 Career Skills and Development Expo” and will take place at the TicketPro Dome, Northriding in Johannesburg.

NUM members on strike at PPC Cement in Pretoria
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) confirms a strike by workers at the cement producing company PPC at Hercules in Pretoria over wage increases. Workers are embarking on a protected strike over the company’s refusal to bargain on wage increases. This comes after the NUM gave PPC a notice to strike on the 4th April 2019 and workers commenced with the industrial action on the 9th April 2019. The strike has entered its ninth day today.

NUM demand an immediate arrests of perpetrators of violence at Sibanye-Stillwater Operations by the newly launched crime combating unit
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) Carletonville Region welcomes the launch of crime combating and reaction team by the South African Police Services Minister Bheki Cele at Blybank in the West Rand on Tuesday. Minister Cele launched the team in response to the continued brutal killings, assaults and burning of houses and vehicles belonging to the non-striking workers, mostly being members of the NUM at Sibanye-Stillwater operations.

Mineworker dies at Modikwa Platinum Mine in Limpopo
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is shocked and highly disappointed that another mineworker has lost his life yesterday at Modikwa Platinum Mine in the North East region on what is reported to be a fall of ground. Modikwa Platinum Mine is one of the biggest platinum producers in the Eastern Limb, situated next to DRIEKOP in Limpopo.
