NUM is on strike at Idwala Carbonates at Port Shepstone in Kwazulu-Natal
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) in Kwazulu-Natal can confirm that its members at Idwala Carbonates are on strike after both parties reached a deadlock on wage negotiation. The strike started last week on Wednesday when Idwala Carbonates management refused to improve their offer on the basic salary increase. The National Union of Mineworkers Youth Structure (NUM-Y) held its first national youth committee meeting for the year 2018 on the 07-09 March 2018 at the NUM College Elijah Baraji Memorial Training Centre (EBMTC) in Midrand. The National Union of Mineworkers was founded in 1982.

Its birth was facilitated by comrades Cyril Ramaphosa who rose to be its first General Secretary, James Motlatsi who turned to be its first President, and Elijah Barayi who became its Vice President and later the President of Cosatu in 1985 when the federation was formed. porn
