The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) Eskom Shop Stewards  from all the 11 regions of the NUM converged in Gauteng at Bon Hotel in Midrand on the 2nd and 3rd of March 2017 to discuss amongst other things  the impact of the Independent Power Producer’s(IPP's) entrance in the energy market as informed by the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP).

The National Union of Mineworkers National Women's Structure (NUM-WS) is deeply saddened by the outrageous and unfounded attack by the African National Congress Women's League  (ANCWL) on COSATU CEC and the leadership collective of all the federations affiliates. The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) will on the 28th February 2016 march to Diro Manganese Mine in Kuruman to present a memorandum of demands. The march will start at 10 am and the memorandum will be handed over at 12 pm.

The National Union of Mineworkers Youth Structure (NUM-YS) structure held its 1st National Youth Committee Meeting (NYC) for the year of 2017 at the Elijah Baraji Memorial Training Center Midrand from 25-26 February 2017, this platform where regions have an opportunity to engage on all matters affecting young workers in the organization and the country.

The National Union Mineworkers (NUM) is shocked, disgusted and saddened by Evander Gold Mine intention to retrench 2 000 mineworkers in Mpumalanga. 

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) in the Western Cape Region has observed with concern the various acts of racism at Vedanta’s Black Mountain mine, which resulted in three employees being dismissed over the past two years.
