 NUM's position on  the decision taken by Eskom board to shut down five Power stations to accommodate Independent Power Producers (IPP's).
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) Eskom Shop Stewards  from all the 11 regions of the NUM converged in Gauteng at Bon Hotel in Midrand on the 2nd and 3rd of March 2017 to discuss amongst other things  the impact of the Independent Power Producer’s(IPP's) entrance in the energy market as informed by the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP).

 NUM Women's Structure unhappy with ANCWL for attacking Cosatu over social grant fiasco.
The National Union of Mineworkers National Women's Structure (NUM-WS) is deeply saddened by the outrageous and unfounded attack by the African National Congress Women's League  (ANCWL) on COSATU CEC and the leadership collective of all the federations affiliates. This all happens when 17 million South Africans social grant beneficiaries (majority which are women and children) are facing a hopeless and bleak upcoming reality of not being able to revise their only source of income next month.

The National Union of Mineworkers was founded in 1982.

Its birth was facilitated by comrades Cyril Ramaphosa who rose to be its first General Secretary, James Motlatsi who turned to be its first President, and Elijah Barayi who became its Vice President and later the President of Cosatu in 1985 when the federation was formed. porn
