6 mineworkers are still trapped underground at Sibanye- Stillwater's Masakhane Mine in Westonaria.
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) can confirm that five miners were rescued, two deceased and six are still trapped underground at Sibanye-Stillwater's Masakhane Shaft in Westonaria. NUM is deeply worried and concerned after thirteen employees were trapped underground yesterday after a seismic incident.
The NUM is angry and concerned at the rate at which mining incidents are happening at Sibanye Stillwater.
We send our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased mineworkers during this difficult time. May their soul rest in peace.
