Corrections about names of the deceased Venetia mineworkers

Media Statement, 19 October 2023

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) would like to correct its media statement issued on 15 October 2023 about the names of mineworkers who lost their lives in a horrific fatal accident that took place on 17 September 2023 when a bus collided with a truck on the R572 at Musina in Limpopo. The mineworkers were employed by Murray & Robert's operations in the Venetia mine.

The following mineworkers are not dead but instead, they sustained serious injuries:

  1. Joseph Motsoadi - Artisan diesel mechanic
  2. Ayanda Zituta - Artisan fitter
  3. Wiseman Tabane - Artisan auto electrician
  4. Paulino Mhaguilunguau - Shaftysman Grade1

The NUM would like to deeply apologise for the inconvenience and pain caused to the families, colleagues and friends of the above-mentioned workers during this difficult time.
