Education is Power: JB Marks Alumni together with the NUM North East Region to host Career Guidance Day

The  JB Marks Alumni Executive together with the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) North East Region to host the second edition of the 2019 Alumni Career Guidance Days scheduled to take place at St. Francis Catholic Academy on Saturday, 16 March in Thokwaneng, Ga-Chuene, Lebowakgomo in Limpopo.

We have been hosting this Career Guidance Days across different provinces in South Africa, and even ventured into Swaziland in 2018.  We are hoping to host close to a thousand learners in Grade 11 and 12.     There will be over 20 graduates from the JB Marks Education Trust Fund, all from different faculties and with varied degrees and diplomas from  various fields of study.

We therefore invite all workers organized in mining, construction and energy sectors to bring along their dependents, especially Grade 11 to 12 learners so that they can be able to decide on their career future.

"Our careers guidance days always begin with a brief background on JB Marks Education Trust Fund and the NUM; then we move into brief individual introductions, thereafter we have break-away sessions dividing graduates and students into different faculties.  We also share the application forms and prospectus books from various colleges and universities.    We give learners information about their careers of interest, APS scores, future careers and various bursaries available.  We also advise them on how to apply online," said Welsina Sekanka, JB Marks Alumni Media Relations Officer.

This is a student development as well as a community outreach program that empowers learners for the future.  It would be honour if you could join us on this initiative.
