NUM calls for investigation into the death of Thembekile Yende at Eskom

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has learned with shock and dismay the discovery of Thembekile Yende decomposing body two days ago at Eskom Springs Power Station.

 It is totally unacceptable that this employee was reported missing on the 18th of May 2017, and her body was discovered on the 29th of May 2017 at the same place where she is stationed. The current explanation that led to her disappearance and discovery begs many unanswered  questions.

The safety of employees and women, in particular, is questionable and need to be interrogated comprehensively. The NUM demands a full investigation and gets to the bottom of this matter. Should findings point to the fact that Eskom or any of its managers is found to have been negligent or contributed to her astonishing death, harsh actions will have to be taken and criminal action implemented.
