NUM congratulate comrade Nomonde Mthembu for being elected the Provincial Treasurer of Cosatu in the Eastern Cape

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) in the Eastern Cape wishes to congratulate Cosatu for holding a successful Provincial congress from the 30-31 October 2015.

The congress was so progressive and all the affiliates showed a collectiveness and high discipline during the course of the congress. The unity that has been showed by affiliate’s delegates speaks volumes and it tells us that the giant Cosatu in the Eastern Cape talks with one voice. The Political maturity showed during leadership nomination and in commission was key in rebuilding the Cosatu of Elijah Barayi. The NUM congratulate the collective leadership under the stewardship of Comrade Toyise.

NUM congratulate comrade Nomonde Mthembu who is from the ranks of the NUM for being elected the Provincial Treasurer of Cosatu in Eastern Cape. Comrade Mthembu has been the pillar of strength in building and serving the NUM in the Eastern Cape. She was among the first cadres to be recruited by NUM in the Eastern Cape, She joined the union during the apartheid years and raised from the ranks of the union and served as a branch leader for many years and later became a regional chairperson of Women Structure and also elected as NUM full-time shop steward in Eskom, serving her second term. She also served as gender coordinator of Cosatu in Eastern cape.

"We do not doubt that the experience you have gathered over the years will assist you in executing your duties in serving the Cosatu affiliates.
