Press Statement, 14 June 2021

NUM Highveld Region to embark on a massive march targeted at Eskom and Coal Mining Companies in and around Mpumalanga province

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) Highveld Region is preparing itself for a massive march against the continued retrenchments, outsourcing, use of labour brokers and the increasing number of unemployment in Mpumalanga.

Companies and employers that would be targeted include Eskom, South32, Seriti, AngloCoal, Exxaro and various contractors operating in the Mpumalanga Province.

Employees are often faced with the fear of retrenchment when companies are being sold or when companies are to embark on a restructuring exercise.

The massive march is planned to take place on the 15th July 2021 with more details and logistics to be announced closer to the date.
