NUM is not calling for the postponement of the Eskom wage negotiations starting tomorrow

Press Statement, 18 June 2018

NUM is not calling for the postponement of the Eskom wage negotiations starting tomorrow.

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) will fully participate in the Eskom wage negotiations starting tomorrow until Thursday at the Cedarwood Park in Woodmead. The NUM is not calling for the postponement of the Eskom wage negotiations.

The NUM congress is starting on Wednesday at the Birchwood Hotel and that will not affect the wage negotiations as there will be another team from the NUM that will fully participate in the wage negotiations.

We also want to clarify the lies being communicated to the public by Eskom that our members are responsible for load shedding. Eskom is lying and our members are not even responsible for any sabotage. Eskom is desperately looking for a public sympathy while using our members as scapegoats. This is hogwash and unacceptable. Eskom management must deal with their own problems and stop blaming the workers.
