NUM Press Statement, 23 May 2016
NUM is still open for wage negotiations with Eskom
The National Union Of Mineworkers (NUM) wants to put it categorically clear that it does not think the current negotiations with Eskom will fail because Nersa had not granted Eskom the tariffs it requested. That cannot be an excuse. Our members demand a salary increase of 18% for the lowest paid workers and 15% for the highest paid workers. It does not matter whether Eskom was not granted the tariffs it requested from Nersa not. Our members have also rejected the 5% wage increase offered by Eskom in the first round of negotiations.
We are looking forward to the second round of negotiations with Eskom next week on the 25th, 26th, 27th of May 2016.
