NUM Kimberley region is pleased to announce that planned retrenchments of 150 mineworkers is withdrawn by Ekapa mine

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) in the Kimberley Region is pleased to announce that the planned retrenchment by the Ekapa mine in Kimberly has been withdrawn. This has been possible through engagement between NUM, UASA and the management. 150 jobs have been secured and this will mean 1500 families will be spared the disaster or possibility of going hungry in this difficult economic crisis.

The NUM will continue engagement with the company to ensure the Ekapa Joint shaft becomes productive and sustainable. This success is very huge for NUM as this company has faced many challenges during and before COVID-19 time.
