NUM Kimberley region signed a five year wage agreement with South 32’s Hotazel Manganese Mines

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) Kimberley Region concluded and signed a wage agreement on behalf of the members at the globally diversified mining and metals company South 32’s Hotazel Manganese Mines.

The parties agreed to the harmonisation of B-Lower level employees effective from 1st June 2024. The employees will receive the following wage increases to their renumeration over a five-year period

  • B Band - Workers would receive 7% in year1, 6.5% in year2, 6% CPI in year 3,4 and 5.
  • C Band - Workers would receive 6.5% in year 1, 6.2% in year 2, 5.7% CPI in year 3, 4 and 5.
  • Medical Aid - workers would receive R2100 in year 1, R2200 year 2, R2300 year three, R2400 year four and R2500 in year five
  • Underground allowance - There would be underground of R1100 in year one and R1500 in year five
  • Housing allowance - Workers would receive R1100 in housing allowance in year one and R1500 in year five, and a once-off cash offer of R20 000.
