NUM Leadership Conducts Strategic Site Visit to Benoni’s Gold Plat Plant Following Majority Union Milestone

BENONI — Leadership from the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) PWV Region and the NUM Youth Structure conducted a high-level site visit to the Gold Plat Plant in Benoni today.

The delegation was led by National Youth Structure Secretary, Comrade Xolani Mkhabela, and PWV Regional Deputy Chairperson for Health and Safety, Tekantsho Mokoena.

Accompanied by Regional Organizers Victor Ngwane and Comrade Boy Mtsi, the leadership team engaged directly with operations at the facility.

The primary objective of the visit is to gain a comprehensive, first-hand understanding of the recovery plant’s technical operations and safety standards. This strategic oversight comes at a pivotal moment, cementing NUM’s position as the newly established majority union at the plant.

"As the majority union, our priority is to deeply understand the operational landscape to effectively champion the interests, health, and safety of our members," the delegation noted.

NUM remains committed to fostering a productive operational environment while ensuring robust representation for all workers at the Benoni facility.
