NUM members to be paid their retrenchment packages if Kopanang Mine is sold to another company
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has signed a memorandum of understanding with AngloGold Ashanti today that in the event that the sale of Kopanang Mine is successful employees will be paid their retrenchment packages before being taken over by the new employer.
"This an achievement for NUM members and other workers because the union did not want to see a sad and painful experience that happened to Aurora workers. We can definitely confirm that NUM members will be paid all their service money in case Kopanang Mine is sold to a new company," said Joseph Montisetse, NUM Deputy President.
