NUM members to picket outside Samancor head office tomorrow

NUM Press Statement, 05 December 2014

NUM members to picket outside Samancor head office tomorrow

The National Union of Mineworkers members will picket at Samancor Head Office in Morningside tomorrow (6 December 2014) to handover a memorandum of grievances. NUM members are raising serious allegations of abuse and racism by some managers in their operations.
This company also continues to refuse to honour its license obligation to provide workers with proper housing
The NUM is very disappointed that  Samancor Head of Corporate Affairs and Transformation  Archie Palane told NUM that the company will not accept the memorandum because all Senior Managers are in Japan. The NUM members will picket at Samancor head office whether the company accept the memorandum or not.
The NUM is very concerned that racism in this company is rife. Some of our members are still called with derogatory names and we will not tolerate that as the NUM. As the NUM, we are going to fight tooth and nail to make sure these racist elements are removed from this company forever.
The picket will start at 11:00 am

Directions: Address: Samancor Chrome Offices are at corner Kopje and Rivonia Road, in Rivonia, Morningside.
