NUM PWV Women Structure to mark the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) PWV Women Structure will mark the last day of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign at Doornkop Mine on the 10th of December 2015.

The theme of the day is "count me in, together moving a non-violent South Africa forward and the sub-theme is "from peace in the home to peace in the world, make education safe for all."

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based violence is a time to inspire action to end violence against women and children in South Africa and around the world.

The UN Women said that "violence is a grave violation of human rights, and often used as a weapon of war, violence against women and girls is widespread and persistent. One in three women worldwide suffers violence, often by someone they trust. Globally, nearly half the women killed each year die at the hands of a partner or family member."
