NUM remembers its honorary President Nelson Mandela

NUM Press Statement, 05 December 2014

NUM remembers its honorary President Nelson Mandela

The National Union of Mineworkers  joins the millions of our people in South Africa and around the world in commemorating the death on 5 December 2013 of its Honorary President and former president of the republic Nelson Mandela.
Mandela sacrificed and dedicated his life for the good of the people of the country and the world. He was a selfless leader, a peace maker and a freedom fighter. Mandela was also a good friend of the mineworkers, energy and construction workers. He inspired and motivated them on many occasions to take education seriously so that they can empower themselves and their communities.
The NUM calls on South Africans to reflect on the legacy he left behind and the future we have to craft for the generations to come. South Africa is today poorer without him.
