NUM's position on the upcoming Gold and Coal Sector negotiations and NUM members being locked out at Medupi this morning.

NUM Press Statement, 07 April 2015

NUM's position on the upcoming Gold and Coal Sector negotiations and NUM members being locked out at Medupi this morning.

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has delayed submitting its wage demands to the Chamber of Mines because of internal consultations with its members. Our wage demands will be submitted to the Chamber of Mines before the end of April. We expect the opening wage negotiations round to start towards the last week of May.
On NUM members being locked out at Medupi.

The NUM is aware that some of its members were locked out this morning at Medupi. The NUM Lephalale sub-region and Eskom full-time shop stewards are going to meet the affected members to find out what happened. The NUM will always be there for its members.
