NUM signed a two-year agreement with Modikwa Platinum Mine in Limpopo
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) had yesterday, 30 October 2017, signed a substantive two-year wage agreement with Modikwa Platinum Mine, a subsidiary of African Rainbow Minerals, based in Limpopo.
The parties have been in negotiation on wage increases for the period 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2019. This collective agreement covers those employees employed in the bargaining unit, which falls within the scope of this agreement.
The parties agree that the basic rate of pay of employees at A to B7 and total package of employees at C1 to C5 shall be increased as follows:
A to B7 increased to R1000 or 7% whichever is greater while C1 to C5 increased to 7%.
The parties also agreed for the home ownership allowance and living out allowance of R2 982 for the period of 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018 and R3 176 for the period of 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2019.
Medical aid allowance will be increased and capped to R1 000 and R1 070 respectively. These wage increases will be implemented with effect from 1 July 2017.
The NUM wishes to express its sincere gratitude to its members at Modikwa Platinum Mine for the manner in which they behaved during the negotiation period.
