NUM support POPCRU march to Union Buildings today

Press Alert, 20 September 2022

NUM support POPCRU march to Union Buildings today

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is throwing its weight behind the planned national march by our sister union, the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) to the Union Building today 20 September 2022.

The NUM believes that the demands by POPCRU members are both genuine and reasonable. POPCRU members who are mostly police officers and correctional service officers, have been subjected to horrible working conditions. They are expected day-in-day-out to serve and protect our communities with distinctions. This march should be about defending their hard-won gains.
As the NUM we believe that POPCRU members' demands are genuine and the government, as an employer, should urgently address them.
