NUM Women’s Structure Launches "Right to Learn Campaign" in Soweto, Donating Essential School Supplies

SOWETO — The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) Women’s Structure has officially launched its "Right to Learn Campaign" today at Diodi Primary School in Mapetla, Soweto.

​The initiative aims to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds by providing them with essential school supplies, including uniforms, bags, and shoes. The campaign is designed to alleviate financial burdens on local families and ensure that vulnerable children can pursue their education with dignity and confidence.

​A Nationwide Mobilization

​Demonstrating the union's collective commitment to community development, the event has drawn a high-profile turnout. Leadership from the NUM Women’s Structure representing all 11 regions across the country are currently in attendance to oversee the distribution and engage with the local community.

​"Education is a fundamental right, and no child should be deterred from learning due to a lack of basic uniform and supplies," the NUM Women’s Structure noted regarding the campaign's mission.
