NUM Youth Structure wishes matric students well with their final examinations

The National Union of Mineworkers Youth Structure (NUM YS) would like to take this opportunity in wishing the class of 2015 good luck with their final year examinations.

We see it befitting to raise a concern about the conditions that our students faces after they have completed their matric, it is against this background that we are calling upon the private sectors to take care of our education.

"Matriculants are expected to sit for the 2015 National Senior Certificate examination which will end in November this year, we should make it clear as NUM YS that it is the responsibility of employers to pay for our studies and that of our kids as part of the social labour plan," Sabelo Mgotywa, NUM YS National Secretary.

"The NUM Youth Structure commends the efforts undertaken by the state president his Excellency JG Zuma, who assured the nation that there will be no fees increase in 2016. We are of a firm believe that this is just a temporal arrangement, therefore there is a need for a permanent solution that says education is free in our country and that can only be obtained if we use this opportunity to engage private sectors," said Mgotywa added.

As leaders in training and the second layer of leadership at the federation, we will use the incoming congress of COSATU to lobby the federation to push for the implementation of this resolution.
