NUM Youth Structure wishes SASCO a successful national Congress
The National Union of Mineworkers Youth Structure (NUM-YS) would like to wish the South African Student Congress ( SASCO) a successful national congress that start on Friday 11th to 13th December 2015 at the North West University.
The congress is taking place just a few months after we saw students fighting for free and quality education across the country. It was SASCO the only trusted and disciplined student movement in our country that led the peaceful protests.
During the student protests, we witnessed the highest degree of anarchy where the burning of infrastructure took place in some institutions of higher learning. As NUM-YS, we view the anarchy by other students formations as nothing but cheap politics in trying to undermine the ANC-led government especially the Department of Higher Education led by Dr Blade Nzimande. We trust that SASCO will reflect on the genuine call for free and quality education and come up with a way forward.
"We further call SASCO leadership to direct their energies in wrestling with the captains of the industry for the funding of the education system. We strongly believe that the united PYA together with the unions youth structures can push the captains of the industry to the limit in funding free and quality education. We confidently believe that the congress will continue to build a stronger, united and campaigning SASCO for the benefit of all the working class children in the institutions of higher learning," said Sabelo Mgotywa, NUM-YS National Secretary.
