SACP DGS Solly Mapaila and ANC PEC member in Gauteng Mondli Gungubele to address a memorial lecture in Carletonville

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) Carletonville Region will hold a memorial lecture of the late Dan Ndzeku at Khutsong Open Ground next to Boiteko Primary School in Khutsong township on Sunday the 08 December 2013. The Starting time is 11:00.

The political input will be addressed by the African National Congress Provincial Executive Member (ANC PEC) in Gauteng and Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni Mondli Gungubele and the keynote address will be delivered by the South African Communist Party (SACP) 2nd Deputy General Secretary Solly Mapaila.

Here is the short profile of the late Dan Ndzeku

. He was a student in Healdtown College in the Eastern Cape

. Just like any other boy of his age during those days he became involved in politics

. Whilst in the University of Fort Hare he continued with his politics

. This later resulted in him being expelled from the university

. As the member of the ANC he continued championing for the liberation of the people of SA.

. Through harassment by the apartheid South African Police he then went to exile in Angola.

. When he came back he worked within the underground structures of the ANC

. He was also part of CODESA transitional negotiations

. Dan Ndzeku became the first democratically elected mayor of Carletonville and led the council from 1994 until 1999 from conservatives.
